Steps to make Ham and Bean Soup:
  1. Soak 1lb bag of navy beans in water for 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Drain off dirty water. Put soaked beans into a large pot of water along with the ham shank.
  3. Boil on medium/low for about 3-4 hours. Stirring occasionally and adding water in as needed to keep covered.
  4. Remove ham shank and shred meat from bone. Removing fat from meat. Place back into pan with beans. Cook liquid down until its a nice soup consistency.

Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific protein source.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all loaded with omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously elevate your mood.

Some grains are actually wonderful for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all wonderful for helping you be in a happier state of mind. These grains fill you up better and that can help improve your moods too. It’s easy to feel a little bit off when you feel hungry! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are easy to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.

Green tea is actually great for your mood. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps raise your mental acuity while relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel so much healthier. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood as well!
